FIVE-YEAR GOALS

I am currently an assistant principal at Livingston High School in Livingston, Texas. Livingston is classified as a 4A school and is growing. Livingston High Schoolís average daily attendance is approximately 1, 250 students.

Despite the fact that I am extremely satisfied with my position at Livingston High School, I have some very concrete plans for my immediate and distant future.

Completion of the degree of Doctor of Educational Leadership, from Sam Houston State University is a very high priority at this juncture in my career. I am scheduled to attain this degree in either the spring or summer of the year 2000. The knowledge and experiences I am acquiring while studying at SHSU, I believe, will enable me to be a more effective and efficient building administrator and ultimately a better superintendent in the long term future. Additionally, I am attaining my Texas Superintendents Certificate while studying at Sam Houston State University and will acquire the endorsement in the summer of this year.

Because I am very satisfied with my current position with Livingston High School, I have the luxury of being very selective in seeking a building principalship. Upon acquiring the position of building principal, I fully intend to set roots and commit myself fully to the school and learning community for whom I work for several years.

My wife, Jennifer, and I place great emphasis and value on family. Furthermore, we realize the importance of consistency stability in the lives of children. Upon attaining the principalship, Jennifer and I hope to become active in the community and remain in our positions for a minimum of five years so that we may have the opportunity to impact the lives of the students we work with.

Obviously, my ambition is to one day attain a central office position and ultimately the position of superintendent; however, that is my long-term ambition. I legitimately wish to spend a large portion of my professional career as a building administrator. I believe that few people have the opportunity to serve children and mold productive young adults in the way a building principal does.
