Acting and Directing

Our acting program develops students skills through detailed study of acting styles, manner, customs, and movement characteristics of Greek Elizabethan, Jacobean, and restoration periods as well as twentieth century nonrealistic play styles and extensive work on breathing, vocal techniques, placement, articulation, resonance, quality of speech, and precision in diction.

Our program also includes intensive study of the special techniques of acting for film and television and practical study and preparation for auditioning for the commercial theatre, musical theatre, cinema, and television.

The directing program prepares young directors through direction of scenes and student directed productions, detail study of the elements in script analysis, communication skills, creating ground plans and scene study through a wide variety of theatrical styles.
