Scholarships

 

The Dance Program awards scholarships ranging from $250 to $1,500 per academic year. In addition, the Mary Ella Montague Endowed Scholarship is awarded to the outstanding returning Dance major each year and the Kelley Barber Award is given annually to a Dance major for outstanding performance.

 

BA/BFA Scholarships

 

Performance scholarships from $250.00 to $1,500.00 are available to students who:

  1. Qualify in terms of dance ability.
  2. Maintain a minimum overall grade point average of 2.8 and a 3.0 in dance classes.
  3. Qualify for and enroll in Intermediate or Advanced Modern Dance Technique and Intermediate or Advanced Ballet Technique
  4. Fulfill all performance assignments.

 

Dance and Theatre Endowment Scholarship

 

Scholarships are awarded by a scholarship selection committee consisting of members of the faculty of the Dance Program and the Theatre Program, with screening and advice from the donors. The guidelines specify that the recipient must be a student with significant need, as well as outstanding talent and/or accomplishment.

MFA Scholarships

Special Graduate Scholarships

 

The Special Graduate Scholarship is a prestigious scholarship from Sam Houston State University. It is awarded to selected graduate students whose academic accomplishments and university or community citizenship are excellent in every respect.

Academic Scholarships
