Students are required to audition for entrance into the SHSU Dance Program.  Auditions are held on the same day as Scholarship/BFA&BA Auditions.  If you are unable to attend one of these dates, call to arrange a personal audition.

              SHSU Dance Scholarship/BFA&BA Auditions are held in November and February each year at Sam Houston State University, Dance Program. Performance scholarships from $250.00 to $1,500.00 are available to students who:

              1.  Qualify in terms of dance ability.

              2.  Maintain a minimum overall grade point average of 2.8.

              3.  Qualify for and enroll in Intermediate or Advanced Modern Dance

                    Technique and Intermediate or Advanced Ballet Technique.

              4.  Fulfill all performance assignments.

 

              Students participating will learn a modern dance movement phrase and a classical ballet movement phrase and perform them for dance faculty evaluators.
