United States Military Preferred Programs

United States Military PrideThe Master of Science in Criminal Justice Leadership and Management for Military Police is designed to provide easy access to a high-quality graduate education and professional development for members of the US Military. The College of Criminal Justice is one of the nation’s largest academic programs in the field with a national and international reputation for excellence and is preferred by the United States Department of Defense.

Special courses are tailored specifically designed to meet the needs and challenges of military police, such as the course Building Democratic Justice Systems Abroad which operationalizes DoD Directive 3000.05 pertaining to establishing civil authority and stability in the wake of combat action. In addition, six credits are awarded for completed military leadership preparation, e.g., the Army’s Captain’s Career Course.

Compared to other distance learning degree programs, we offer:

A financially competitive program for active military personnel.
Coursework that can be utilized professionally.
Course flexibility in 7-1/2 week semesters
The opportunity to learn from experienced faculty.

As a designated preferred school for military education, SHSU direct bills the US Department of Defense for tuition costs up to the current limit of $4,500 annually. Additional financial aid is also available for military personnel through the Hazelwood Act, Veteran's affairs, as well as FAFSA.

The new online format allows students to enroll in two 7-½ week courses per semester. This enables them to complete the program from home or wherever they have access to the internet in two years. The program also uses a student-friendly course delivery and learning platform that includes access to technical support 24 hours a day, each and every day of the week.
