This course serves as a base for all kinesiology courses. Units will include historical development, philosophical implications, physical fitness, scientific bases of movement, and educational values of kinesiology.

The first half of this course is concerned with the organization and administration of physical education and recreation in the public schools; the second half, with the organization, administration, and business management of a high school athletic program.

Prerequisite: KIN 373 or take simultaneously.
This course bridges the gap between basic undergraduate and graduate physiology. Selected topics will include: bioenergetics, hormonal regulation, hemodynamics, effects of high altitude, ergogenic aids, gender differences and exercise performance, and exercise with older adults.
