SHSU Correspondence Courses
The Correspondence Course Division at Sam Houston State University offers a wide variety of courses. Select a department to the left to see a complete listing of the courses offered.
Non-SHSU Students
If you are a non-SHSU student you may submit your application through ApplyTexas.org and there will be an undergraduate admission fee of $45.00. You can pay your application fee as you complete your application through ApplyTexas.org. If you need assistance with this process you may contact Undergraduate Admissions at 936.294.1882 or 936.294.1889. Once you have completed the application you will receive notification of your admission and at that point you may register to enroll in a correspondence course by using the Registration form.
Summer and Fall 2012 SHSU Degree Candidates
Summer 2012 Deadlines:
Enroll by May 14, 2012; all lessons must be submitted by July 6, 2012; and the final exam application submitted by July 13, 2012. Final exams should be taken the week of July 23-27, 2012; grades due August 6, 2012. SHSU commencement is August 4, 2012.
Fall 2012 Deadlines:
Enroll by September 21, 2012; all lessons must be submitted by on November 19,
2012; and the final exam application submitted on November 21, 2012 to take the
final exam on the week of December 3-7, 2012; grades due December 17, 2012. SHSU
commencement is December 14 and 15, 2012. (tenative)
These are deadlines; however, we encourage you to submit your lessons at any time prior to these deadlines.
Effective August 24, 2011:
Effective August 24, 2011, there will be a price increase of $101 per one-credit hour correspondence courses. The fee for a three-credit hour correspondence course will be $573.00. Sam Houston State University will no longer accept VISA as a form of payment.
Also effective August 24, 2011, all students enrolling in a correspondence course must purchase a web camera. These will be used for testing purposes to guard against academic dishonesty. Web cameras can be purchased at your local office supply store or online. To learn more, click here.
