Scholarships

Scholarship applications are now available.

Unless noted, the scholarships below are awarded for the fall semester and assume students will be in residence for a full academic year after the scholarship is awarded. Students who do not plan a full academic year will be awarded half of the available stipend. Students who do not return for the fall term forfeit their scholarship for that year.

Some of the scholarships indicate that the award is available to students who are completing emphases included in former Department of Journalism. These emphases are print journalism, public relations and advertising.

Occasionally scholarship endowment earnings do not permit the published award. Under these circumstances, either the scholarship will not be awarded that particular year or a smaller amount may be awarded. Unless otherwise noted, scholarship applications are available in the Mass Communication Department Office.

General University-Wide Scholarships are available through SHSU Academic Affairs: http://www.shsu.edu/~sfa_www/scholarship.html#academicaffairs and through the SHSU Financial Aid office: http://www.shsu.edu/~sfa_www/scholarship.html

Out-of-state students who receive $1,000 or more in university scholarships also receive a waiver of out-of-state tuition.
