Robin Johnson's research focuses on the social and symbolic connections among gender, technology, labor and digital media. His recent research examines the role of masculinity in video game production and culture, and his work has been published in the journals Television and New Media and Celebrity Studies. He is also an editorial board member of the Journal of Communication Inquiry and ADA: A Journal of Gender, New Media & Technology.

He teaches classes on online journalism and mass media writing and serves as the advisor to the student newspaper, The Houstonian.
