Kelli Arena spent 25 years working at CNN from posts including New York, Tokyo, London and Washington DC. Most recently, she was the Justice Correspondent for CNN, covering terrorism, federal law enforcement and the Supreme Court. She started her career as a business journalist, covering the financial markets , world economies and economic policy.
Arena is the recipient of numerous awards including an Emmy, Peabody, Cable Ace and Best Correspondent award.
She has covered every major story over the past two decades, from the stock market crash of 1987 to the September 11th attacks of 2001 and was one of the few correspondents to cover terrorism hearings in Guantanamo Bay,Cuba. After leaving CNN, Arena helped launch a website for journalists, News Certified Exchange. She also trains professional journalists in the U.S. and overseas and is the director of the Global Center for Journalism and Democracy.
As the recipient of the Dan Rather Endowed Chair of Broadcast Journalism, Kelli Arena teaches courses on broadcast news and feature reporting.
