Requirements for the Educator Preparation Programs - Initial

The GPA requirements for all candidates admitted to the Educator Preparation Programs are as follows:

• A minimum 2.5 GPA for all coursework including transfer and SHSU courses
• A minimum 2.5 GPA in major including content area teaching field

Upon application to Educator Preparation Programs the candidate will submit to:

• Criminal background check

The Program requirements for all candidates in the Educator Preparation Programs are as follows:

• No grade below "C"
• Must meet the criteria for Reading Skills
• Must meet the criteria for Mathematics Skills
• Must meet the criteria for Writing Skills
• Must meet the criteria for Critical Thinking Skills
