Field Observations

Acedemic Year 2010-2011

Interns are those Educator Preparation Program (EPP) candidates serving as classroom teacher of record on a probationary certificate. The intern is expected, based on the Texas Education Code, Section 21.0452 and Texas Administrative Code, Title 19, Part 7, Chapter 229, to have three observations by SHSU University Supervisors during this internship period.

During the observation, the interns are evaluated using the Student Teacher Evaluation - Form A, which is based on the Professional Development Appraisal System (PDAS). The evaluation is adapted and aligned with Texas Proficiencies for Learner-Centered Instruction. A performance-based assessment, the first two observations are formative and the third obervation is summative.

During the AY 2010-2011, 22 interns were observed a minimum of three times. The results of the third observation, a summative evaluation are reported as an average, by domain.
