Demographics Information
The Texas Education Association (TEA) Annual Performance Report provides demographic information regarding the number of candidates in an Education Preparation Program (EPP). The information is reported as a total, by gender, and by race/ethnicity for candidates who applied to the program, were admitted to the program, were retained in the program, or completed the program during a specific year.
The table, listed below, includes the demographic data from Academic Year (AY) 2010-2011. A snapshot of the program for the given year, an EPP can be compared from year to year, or the program at Sam Houston State University can be compared, by year, to other programs within Texas as additional years of data are collected.
AY 2010-2011, the first official year of data collection for the TEA Annual Report, the data indicate that 86% of all persons who applied to the EPP at SHSU were admitted. Of those admitted, 86% were female and 14% were male. The ethnicity of all candidates admitted to the program is: 11% African American, 15% Hispanic, 3% Other, and 72% White.
