The PGA/ Professional Golf Management (PGA/PGM) Program, a five year college curriculum for aspiring PGA Professionals, is a structured educational program accredited by The PGA of America. Students are required to complete all requirements of The PGA of America's Professional Golf Management (PGM) Program, pass a Playing Ability Test (PAT) and complete 16 months of internship work. These requirements satisfy The PGA of America's membership requirement and students will graduate Class "A" Members of The PGA of America.

Students attending the PGA/PGM program at Sam Houston State University will graduate with a baccalaureate degree in Business Administration, with a major in General Business Administration and a minor in Professional Golf Management. Sam Houston State University's College of Business Administration is accredited by the AACSB-International (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business). Classes have been designed to aid the students in the completion of the PGA's educational program. Class topics include Retail Merchandising and Inventory Management, Turfgrass Management, Food and Beverage Management, Business Planning and Operations, and Business Communications, in addition to the University curriculum.
