Lecture Series
Dr. Melba J.T. Vasquez was the spring 2008 lecture series guest speaker for the Clinical Psychology Doctoral Program. Her talks included: “Latina Leadership in Psychology: What I’ve Learned So Far” and “Cultural Diversity and the Therapeutic Alliance: An Ethical Analysis”.

Melba J.T. Vasquez, Ph.D., ABPP
Dr. Melba Vasquez is a nationally recognized expert in the area of multicultural diversity in psychology. She has been a tireless advocate for the psychology of ethnic minorities and the psychology of women. She is past president of the Texas Psychological Association, past president of APA Division 35 (Psychology of Women) and the first Latina member-at-large of APA’s Board of Directors. She is a co-founder of APA’s Division 45 (Psychological Study of Ethnic Minority Issues), as well as the National Multicultural Conference and Summit. She maintains an active private practice in Austin, TX. She has also published over 60 articles and book chapters and is co-author with Dr. Ken Pope of Ethics in Psychotherapy and Counseling: A Practical Guide (2007, 3rd edition).
