Personal
I was born in Des
Moines, Iowa
on October 25, 1948
and moved to Texas
while still in school, graduating from Coahoma
High School, Coahoma,
TX in 1967. I attended college
at Sam Houston
State University
and then returned to Iowa
to carry out graduate work at the University
of Iowa, under the
direction of Prof. R. E. Buckles. After a year of postdoctoral work at the
University of Arkansas,
I took a position at Drake
University in Des
Moines, Iowa.
I was tenured in 1984, and was offered a position at Sam
Houston State
University that
same year. I am now Professor
of Chemistry and my wife is Chair of the Department of Family and Consumer
Sciences.
We have a son (B.A., German
and History, M.A, History, and a daughter-in-law from Iasi, Romania,(B.A. M. A., English) who both teach in Florida, son-in-law (B.S. Economics) and a daughter (B.S., Nutritional
Sciences) who obtained her M.S. in Chemistry who both work in College Station, TX.
