About Darren L. Williams
Dr. Williams is originally
from He came to Sam Houston State University in August
2004 from his post in the Texas Panhandle where he taught chemistry at West Texas A&M University as an
Assistant Professor from 1997-2001 and an Adjunct Professor from
2001-2004. His most recent position as a
Sectional Scientist at the Department of Energy’s Pantex Plant (2001-2004) gave him
valuable experience in spectroscopy as it is applied to industrial
research. While at Pantex, he was actively
involved in Toastmasters
International, and was trained as a Six-sigma Blackbelt.
At Sam Houston State University, Dr.
Williams teaches: · Physical Chemistry (CHM
448W and 449) – Quantum theory and spectroscopy, statistical
thermodynamics, thermodynamics, chemical and phase equilibria,
transport phenomena, nuclear chemistry, and kinetics. (every year) · Chemistry I (CHM 138 and
139) – The first-year chemistry sequence for science majors.
(every year when not teaching graduate courses) · Graduate Statistical
Thermodynamics (CHM 581) – Advanced development of
thermodynamics. (every 3rd year) · Graduate Quantum Mechanics
and Spectroscopy (CHM 585) – Advanced methods for simulating and
interpreting spectroscopic measurements. (every 3rd year) · General Chemistry (CHM135)
– The non-majors chemistry course. (taught only occasionally) His research at SHSU is
outlined on the Research Page. His curriculum vita is available in
Adobe pdf format. |
