Welcome
The Department of Curriculum and Instruction is "Enhancing the Future" through our programs to prepare teachers for the elementary, middle, and high schools of Texas. Undergraduate and graduate degree programs have been structured and aligned to the Pedagogy and Professional Responsibilities Standards and Technology Applications . Standards required by the Texas State Board for Educator Certification (SBEC).
Preparation of future teachers is a collaborative effort with thirty-nine school districts who are part of the Sam Houston Innovative Partnerships with Schools (SHIPS). Future teachers will demonstrate the skills, knowledge and dispositions necessary to create a positive learning environment. Employing a variety of technologies, these future teachers will learn to plan, implement, assess, and modify instruction to meet the needs of the diverse learners in the Texas public schools.
