Faculty![]() Thomas Seifert
Thomas Seifert holds both the Bachelor's and Master's degrees from the Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara, California, where he graduated with honors in the areas of industrial & scientific photography and color technology. Upon graduating, he received the coveted Earnest H. Brooks Memorial Trophy, the schools highest award. He also holds a Ph.D. from Texas A & M University in education, which he earned in 1994.
Since beginning his teaching career at SHSU in1983, Dr. Seifert has concentrated his teaching and research endeavors in the areas of commercial photography, electronic imaging, and web site design and development. His commercial work has been widely published in both newspapers and magazines over the years. In 2002 he became coordinator of the Photography Program, a post he held until 2006. Recently he was asked to act as art director for a book commemorating the 125th anniversary of Sam Houston State University. Published in 2004, the "coffee table style" work, which he produced with author Ty Cashion, has earned tremendous recognition from inside and outside the university. Dr. Seifert's current research interests involve digital preservation and archiving, much of which began with his work as Art Director for the text Sam Houston State University - An Institutional Memory: 1879-2004. |
