Kelley received her MFA from the University of Houston in 2006. Since then, Kelley has been expanding her body of work that reanimates, repurposes objects of urban refuse. She is drawn to the symbolic and formal elements of the decay of caste off urban waste, specifically the way in which an object has been altered by its mere existence. So she collects these materials. She holds onto them for a while. Cogitates. Writes. Eventually the formal and symbolic elements of the materials and her current research meld and then she makes, assembles and revalues these materials into sculptural constructs.
