Mandatory Meal Plans
Price - $1312.00
While all beginning freshman attending Sam Houston State University take part in this meal plan, some 700 to 800 upperclassmen voluntarily sign up each year. This plan offers students 3 choices that are designed to better fit various student's needs.
Each choice covers the 16 weeks of a semester.
Choice 1 = 7 days 20 Meals + $100 Bearkat Bucks
Meets the needs of students that will spend most weekends on campus or just miss very few dinner bells, this option provides an opportunity to eat at every meal except Sunday night.
"This is my first year, I have to get adjusted to school and roommates and worry about homework or tests. Who needs the hassle of keeping count of how many meals I have left."
"Last semester I ran out a day early twice on the 15 plan. Never again!"
Choice 2 = 7 days • 15 Meals + $175 Bearkat Bucks
Meets the needs of students that will miss most weekends, or breakfast, this option provides the student with the opportunity to eat at 15 of our 20 meal periods, plus gives them $175 in bonus Bearkat Bucks for use in our food court at their convenience.
"It's perfect for me: 1) I sleep through breakfast, or 2) I work nights, or 3) I go home on the weekends and I really like the convenience of the Paw Print Food Court."
Choice 3 = 160 Meal Block + $150 Bearkat Bucks
Meets the needs of students who want flexibility and control of when and who eats on their meal card. The block plan can provide 10 meals per week for the 16 weeks in the semester. However, students may enter multiple times in one meal period, may bring a friend in on one of their block meals, and all uneaten meals rollover to the following week. This plan is ideal for students who can and will manage their meal block throughout the semester. It is possible a distracted student could easily run out of the block meals weeks before the end of the semester.

Choice 4 = 7 Days • 5 Meals + $150 Bearkat Bonus- $656.00
Available Monday through Sunday. This plan is targeted to the commuters and is not available to on campus freshman.

Choice 5 = Any 50 meals per semester + $100 Bearkat Bonus- $ 412.00

"Better Than Cash"
It is like a credit card except it debits from money that has been previously deposited. Extra credit is available for large deposits. The card is welcomed like cash at all locations on campus. The plan is a great gift idea to get extra money form parents. Assure them it can only be used on campus for meals and snacks. Yes, this plan works very well to supplement other plans. You may add to your account at any University Cashier location or the Residence Life office.

*Bearkat Value Plan= 50 meal block + $100 Bearkat Bucks Price - $436
This plan is designed more for the residential or non-residential commuter student. With 50 meals available throughout the semester at your convenience, students are not only given the freedom to eat whenever they choose, but they are also provided with $100 Bearkat Bucks, which allows them to eat at a wide variety of dining halls within campus.
*Bearkat Lite Plan= 25 meal block + $150 Bearkat Bucks Price - $332
This plan is a reduced one of the 50 meal block, it is made specifically for those students who are only on campus for one meal a day, however, the 25 meals may be used as frequently as desired. Also available, the $150 Bearkat Bucks allows you to eat at any of our residential restaurants on campus.
