Don Sanders is the co-founder, vice chairman of the board, and chairman of the executive committee for Sanders Morris Harris Group, Inc., a Houston-based investment firm. He is also a principal owner of the Corpus Christi Hooks and Round Rock Express minor league baseball teams with Nolan Ryan. He is a former owner of the Houston Sports Association and the Houston Astros.

He is director for the Nolan Ryan Foundation, the Childress Foundation, Greater Houston Convention & Visitor Bureau, DePelchin Children Center , and the Houston Symphony. He is a former member the Houston Police Officers Pension System board and the University of Houston System Board of Regents.

He received a BBA in 1958 from SHSU and his MBA from UT Austin. Mr. Sanders is a member of the SHSU Share the Vision Campaign Executive Leadership Council, and he received the Distinguished Alumnus Award from the SHSU Alumni Association in 1980.

Don has committed $1,000,000 to create an endowment to enhance the Sam Houston State University baseball program..
