Annual Tree of Lights Ceremony scheduled for Wednesday, December 2nd

The annual Tree of Light ceremony has taken place for the past 88 years at SHSU and is Sam Houston’s oldest and most cherished tradition. Each year, students, faculty, staff and the surrounding community come together to celebrate a time of giving. The ceremony began as an annual Christmas Tree lighting and has evolved into a campus-wide celebration during the holiday season.
During the ceremony, several different University groups perform including the SHSU Choral and the Orange Pride Dance Team. Student organizations are also invited to decorate the tree with an ornament. Hot wassail and cookies are always served and a canned-food drive is organized to donate back to the community.
