Bio:

Dr. Maud Roucan-Kane (“Dr. Kane”) is a professor at Sam Houston State University. Maud received her Ph.D. degree in agricultural economics with a specialty in agribusiness at Purdue University in the summer 2010. For her PhD thesis, Dr. Kane studied the decision-making process associated with the choice of innovation projects of food and agribusiness companies.

Dr. Kane joined the SHSU agricultural and industrial sciences department in the summer 2010. Dr. Kane teaches three classes a semester on topics such as agribusiness management, policy, future and market prices, and entrepreneurship. Prior to coming to SHSU, she taught finance, economics, agribusiness, and applied statistics at Purdue University and Ivy Tech (a community college). When not teaching, Dr. Kane enjoys doing research on topics such as innovation, buying decisions of commercial producers, tools to manage uncertainty, and methods to improve learning in the classroom.

On her free time, Dr. Kane likes to run after her two kids, spend time with her husband, and fly back to France, her home country to help on her family beef and poultry farm. She brings this practical and international experience back to the classroom.
