Joy Thompson Joins Staff

There is a new face around here these days. Mrs. Joy Thompson was recently hired to replace Nancy Durham as Secretary I for the Department. Nancy accepted a position with the Law Enforcement Management Institute in the College of Criminal Justice in December. Mrs. Thompson will have the responsibility of handling most of the purchasing and travel procedures for the entire department and will serve as program secretary for the Technology Program. Augusta (Gustie) Calloway, long-time secretary for Technology, will become secretary for the newly created Department of Mass Communication effective March 1.

Mrs. Thompson commutes daily from Pennington , Texas where she lives with her husband of thirty-seven years. She has two children and five grandchildren. Her daughter, Kelly (Thompson) Sullivan graduated from SHSU in 1996 in Animal Science and is now a successful businesswoman in Huntsville.

Mrs. Thompson says that her favorite things about working here are the pleasing environment and friendliness of all the people within the department. She identifies this as her main reason for coming to work at the university.
