Steer and Heifer Consignment Sale Coming Soon

The Department of Agricultural Sciences and Beef Cattle Show Team members are hosting the 2 nd Annual SHSU Prime Time Consignment Sale at the Walker County Fair Grounds on April 17, 2004 . The first sale included heifers only. Due to demand from County Agents and Agriscience teachers, outstanding steer prospects were added this year and several other breeds of heifers are featured, including AOBs, Maines , Chianinas, and Limousins .

Funds raised from the sale are used to help cover expenses and equipment needs for the Beef Cattle Show Team. Last year's sale grossed $92,000. As a result, the Show Team contributed to the purchase of an aluminum stock trailer for the department.

Currently about 60 head are consigned to the sale. Any additional nominations must be received ASAP. Members are working diligently to develop advertising and constructing a sale website. While the general public is welcome, the sale is focused toward youth scramble certificates and those interested in purchasing and exhibiting show cattle.
