Agricultural Science and Technology
Programs to Merge
Effective January 1, 2004 , the Technology Department will
be merged with the Department of Agricultural Sciences. Robert
Lane will remain Chair of the enlarged department, while
Dr. Tom Higgins will continue to administer many aspects
of the Technology program, serving as Coordinator. Dr. Higgins
has served as Chair of the Technology Department for the
past eight years. In addition to Dr. Higgins, the Agricultural
Sciences Department will also be joined by existing Technology
faculty members, Nedom Muns, Bill Moore and adjunct faculty
Keith Coogler.
"I think the combination of the Agricultural Sciences
and Technology Programs will make for a unique and beneficial
academic program," says Lane. "Many of our students, particularly
the Ag Mechanization students, take minors in Technology
and vice versa. Our faculty have always worked well together
and I look forward to building upon the strengths of both
programs." Once the programs are combined, the Department
will consist of 17 faculty members and over 850 students,
making it one of the largest single departments on campus.
