Stanley Kelley Tabbed Top Teacher

 

    The American Association of State Colleges of Agriculture and Renewable Resources (AASCARR) selected Dr. Stanley Kelly as the 1999 Outstanding Teacher Award recipient. The award is presented annually to a teacher early in his or her career who has excelled in the classroom. The award was presented in September at the organization's annual meeting in Nashville, Tennessee.

     Dr. Kelley's major emphasis area is in beef cattle production and management. In addition to his B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. degrees form Texas A&M, Dr. Kelley has a rich background in the beef cattle business. He was raised on a south Texas ranch and remains active in the family ranching operation. At SHSU he teaches courses in animal nutrition, beef cattle production, anatomy and physiology, livestock selection and evaluation, animal reproduction, meat processing technology, swine management, selection and evaluation of meats, and advanced livestock management.

     Committed to professional excellence, Dr. Kelley has organized and hosted producer-oriented seminars for both SHSU students and local producers. He has also made presentations throughout the U.S and in Central America. He is the recipient of numerous professional honors including being selected to receive the Excellence in Teaching Award at SHSU in 1997.
