Horticulture Club Plowing New Ground

With the success of last year behind them, the SHSU Horticulture Club has many new ideas in which to involve club members. Plans are in motion for the poinsettia sale in December and the spring plant sale, both serving as important fundraisers for the club. Plans are underway for the Third Annual Green Thumb Day. Club members also participate in the Children's Barnyard, held at the Indoor Arena each fall.

To enhance their own education, club members are planning tours to a variety of horticultural businesses and gardens. The club is steadily increasing in size and involvement in university and community activities. Officers for this year include President Melissa Trees (Orange Grove), Vice President Helene Munro (New Waverly), and Secretary Walter Hambrick (Spring), Treasurer Mark Kaiser (Tomball), and Reporter Stephanie Herring (Dayton). Ag Council Representatives are Billy Goldberg (Harlingen) and Alisa Meredith (Kirbyville).
