Collegiate FFA Plans an Active Year

The Collegiate FFA Chapter sponsored the Hamburger Kickoff at the beginning of the fall semester, designed to encourage new students to gather with the "more experienced" students along with members of the faculty and staff. Ag Workers Mutual Insurance Company and Mr. Alton Burgess of National Farm Life Insurance teamed up to cosponsor, the event with Collegiate FFA.

Chapter members staffed the concession stand at the SHSU NIRA Collegiate Rodeo to raise funds to offset their expenses in attending the National FFA Convention. There, they participated in the Alpha Tau Alpha Ag Education Society Conclave.

Members also hosted the Annual Halloween Bash, a fun event held at the Walker County Fairgrounds and attended by over 2000 students from the department. Cap Roder (Crosby) is serving as current President of the Collegiate FFA Chapter. The Vice-presidents are Brian Gregg (Crosby), Margaret Little (Brenham), Hollie Malone (Barbers Hill), Jamie Smith (Broaddus), and Kevin Ward (Corsicana). Representatives to the Ag Council are Michelle Swanson (Lake Jackson) and Beau White (Palestine).
