Delta Tau Alpha Continues Record of Success

The Sam Houston DTA Chapter has established an enviable record of winning national awards. SHSU students have frequently been selected to national office the most recent being Kelly Edinburgh, who served as last year's National President. To be eligible for membership in Delta Tau Alpha, students must have attained an outstanding academic record. The Sam Houston Chapter requires even higher standards than those required at the national level.

Events planned for the year include "Late Night with the Ag Department," a huge success last year. It involves students meeting with professors the night before final exams begin to conduct some last minute reviews and better prepare for finals. A new semester-end book swap is being initiated this year to help students save money on textbook purchases. Also a quiz bowl competition to test students' knowledge of agriculture and contemporary issues is being planned.

Dr. C. Pat Bagley serves as advisor with the following officers: President, Melissa Trees (Orange Grove); Vice-president, Cap Roder (Crosby); Secretary, Sheyenne Krysher (Santa Fe); Treasurer, Andrea Ilseng (Kingwood); and Parliamentarian, Ashlee Tickner (Huntsville). The Ag Council Representatives for DTA are Shelby Gudgle (Kemah) and Michael Pharris (Conroe).
