Ag Alumni Association Benefits Program

The SHSU Agriculture Alumni Association is a strong supporter of the Department of Agricultural Sciences. In July, about 170 members of the SHSU Agriculture Alumni Association gathered in Waco at the Lake Brazos Steakhouse for a reception and dinner. Through a silent auction, donations, and dues, over $5,000 was raised. Funds raised by the Alumni Association are used to produce and mail this newsletter to over 3000 alums. The Ag Alumni Association has also supported the department through sponsorship of scholarships and various conferences and receptions for students, faculty and alumni. Also, the Alumni Association assists with the department's recruiting efforts by sending two students to the State FFA Convention each year to staff the departmental information booth.

New officers elected for the 1999-2000 year include President Bobby Choiniere (Madisonville), Vice President Bryon Fields (Apple Springs), and Secretary-Treasurer Billy Harrell (SHSU). Leon Cummins continues to serve on the Board as immediate Past President.
