Ag Council Adopts New Constitution

The SHSU Ag Council has adopted a new constitution and by-laws to provide an improved sense of direction and to encourage more active student involvement in the organization. The officers elected for the current year include Russell Cater (Conroe), President; Michelle Swanson (Lake Jackson), Vice-president; and Shelly Bridges (Cleveland), Secretary-Treasurer.

Homecoming was a major focus of the Ag Council this fall. Students from all clubs worked together to build and enter a float in the Homecoming Parade. Sheyenne Krysher (Santa Fe) and Cap Roder (Crosby), were selected as Agriculture student representatives for Homecoming Queen and King. The organization float placed first in the parade competition and Ag Council placed second in the overall spirit competition.

Other activities planned include sponsorship of the Cowboy Christmas Dance and the Departmental Awards Banquet. The Council is structured to serve as the umbrella organization for all departmental clubs. It also provides a forum for student opinions regarding improvements in their educational programs.
