The Department offers challenging academic programs at both the undergraduate and graduate level in a supportive and caring environment. Small classes and accessible faculty encourages students to learn, participate and prepare for careers in accounting and business.
- The Department of Accounting educates a diverse student body of approximately 600 undergraduate majors.
- During the Fall 2008 semester, the Department began a Master of Science in Accounting program. There are approximately 30 graduate students enrolled in this program.
- In academic year 2009 (Fall 2008 – Summer 2009), 135 undergraduate and 22 graduate students received accounting degrees. By ethnicity, those graduates were 74% white, 13% hispanic, 9% black, and 4% other.
- The Department of Accounting's academic standards require undergraduate accounting majors maintain an overall grade point average (GPA) of at 2.5 and make a grade of "C" or better in every accounting class in order to graduate. Admission to the graduate program is competitive requiring a minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.0 overall as well as in upper-level undergraduate accounting classes. Graduate students must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 at the graduate level.
