Houston Area Samaritan To Address SHSU Graduates

A well-known area service and community leader, who lives up to Sam Houston State University’s motto “The measure of a Life is its Service,” will address the 973 graduating students in the upcoming commencement ceremonies at 9:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. on Saturday Aug. 5 in Bernard G. Johnson Coliseum.
Ann K. Snyder currently serves as the executive director of Generosity and head of schools for The Woodlands United Methodist Church and has a long career in service-based organizations.
Snyder has served as president and CEO of Interfaith of The Woodlands, with a staff of more than 450 and 61 congregations. She has developed and implemented initiatives within the nonprofit, including serving as president and CEO of Interfaith Community Clinic where she oversaw staff and volunteers consisting of licensed physicians, nurses, other medical providers, as well as translators and support personnel.
She also served as the director of clinical and field experience and assistant professor at the University of Houston, Main Campus.
Snyder is deeply committed to assisting the community around her. She has served on the Conroe Independent School District Board of Trustees for 15 years and is currently on the Houston Methodist the Woodlands Hospital Board, The Woodlands Art Council Board, The Woodlands Area Chamber of Commerce Leadership Board, The Woodlands Township Board of Directors, and many more local organizations.
Snyder was named one of 2015 Houston’s Most Influential Women and has received many honors and distinctions during her years of service to the greater Houston area.
Snyder will address the Colleges of Business Administration, Humanities and Social Sciences and Criminal Justice in the morning commencement ceremony and the Colleges of Education, Health Sciences, Fine Arts and Mass Communication and Science and Engineering Technology in the afternoon.
