The School Counseling Certification is designed for students who have already earned a master’s degree in education or a related field and are seeking certification only as a school counselor.
Students must have a master's degree and a valid teaching certificate. Once students complete the required courses, they are allowed to take the examination for school counseling. However, certification will not be issued by TEA until the applicant has completed two years of teaching experience.
This certification is also offered in combination with the Master of Education in Counseling.
