The MS in Mathematics is a thirty-six hour program designed for students interested in pursuing doctoral study in mathematics or in pursuing careers in industry or business. Classes in the Mathematics program are distinguished by their small sizes and dynamic culture of learning, encouraging students to realize their academic potential and to continue on to productive careers in academia, business, and industry.
Students take courses in algebra, analysis, topology, complex analysis, linear algebra, and discrete mathematics, providing a strong foundation in the advanced study of mathematics that supports the development of research or professional specialties. For maximum flexibility in the pursuit of individual professional goal, the program may be completed either by writing a thesis incorporating significant research and writing in the field of mathematics, or by conducting a research project.
