Description
The Master of Science in Family and Consumer Science is designed to provide training in advanced and specialized leadership in various professions and to further professional competencies for students in dietetics, extension, business, industry, and education.
The program has two degree plan options:
- Plan I (Thesis)- Students complete 15 hours of Family and Consumer Science coursework, 4 hours of statistics, 12 hours in an approved minor, and 6 hours of thesis work.
- Plan II (Non-Thesis) - Students complete 21 hours of Family and Consumer Science coursework, 4 hours of statistics, and 12 hours in an approved minor.
Students may choose a focus within Family and Consumer Science by selecting a majority of credit hours in one of the following areas: Clothing, Textiles, and Merchandising; Family Economics and Resource Management; Family and Consumer Sciences Education; Interior Design; or Nutrition and Dietetics.

- Writing sample of scholarly work, including instructor's grade and/or comments
- Two recommendation letters that discuss the applicant's suitability for graduate study. Letters should be written on letterhead and submitted as "closed" recommendations.
