Description

The Master of Education in Counseling is designed specifically to prepare teachers for
School Counseling Certification and may also meet academic requirements for licensure as a professional counselor (LPC). The program complies with existing standards for professional certification. Students who wish to work with children may take courses in play therapy.

Students must have a master's degree, a valid teaching certificate, and two years of teaching experience before they can sit for the certification exam.

Evening classes are offered at the main campus, The Woodlands Center, and University Park. Cohorts may also be available.

  1. Graduate Admissions Application
  2. Application Fee
  3. Official transcript from the baccalaureate degree granting institution
  4. Official GRE scores with writing section or MATscores
  5. Three Reference Forms: one from a current or former employer/supervisor; one from a former professor, a certified school counselor, or a licensed counselor, marriage and family therapist, MSW, or psychologist; one from someone other than a family member.
