Description
The Youth Services Libraries certificate is designed for those interested in developing and/or honing skills with working effectively with children, tweens, and teens. Three courses comprise this certificate program:
- Literature for Children offers information about books and literature for children ages 2 through 10. An examination of child development along with an in-depth study of the various genres, forms, and formats of children’s literature are included in this course.
- Literature for Tween and Teens picks up where Literature for Children ends with information about books and literature for children ages 10 through 18. Tween and teen development and an in-depth study of the various genres, forms, and formats of tween and young adult literature are included in this course.
- Programming for Children, Tweens, and Teens offers information about a variety of programs including booktalking, storytelling, displays, and author visits.
Traditional face-to-face courses are offered as Saturday workshops during the Fall semester.
