Emphasis in Safety Management
The Bachelor of Science in engineering technology has two emphasis options: electronics and safety management. The emphasis in safety management prepares you for a career in many industrial fields. You will learn to implement safety procedures for construction projects, factories, and many other areas. The engineering technology degree provides you with experience in areas such as construction management, design and development, and electronics and computer engineering technology.
Engineering technology students typically choose minors from program areas within the department, though some will select options from other colleges. Students should choose a minor that best suits their needs and interests.
The internship program is intended to provide experience-based learning opportunities for students in their respective discipline of study. Students generally seek internship experience at the end of their junior or senior year. The course identified for internship credit in engineering technology is ITEC 4391 Work-Based Mentorship. Internships may be arranged through student contact with providers or through departmental faculty and staff announcements and postings. All internships must receive departmental approval through application prior to the initiation of the internship. Maximum credit for an internship is six (6) credit hours.
