2015 SHSU Teaching Conference

12:00 - 4:20
Reception to follow at 4:30

"Teaching Students to Focus on Learning Rather than Grades"

with keynote address by Saundra McGuire, Ph.D.
Director, Center for Academic Success, Louisiana State University

The 2015 SHSU Annual Teaching Conference promises to be another enlightening endeavor as we hone our
teaching of students descending on Sam Houston State University.  They desire to have meaningful lives,
and we at SHSU hope to contribute to their success in every way possible.  This year we have a
seasoned veteran in the area of student learning coming to share with us from Louisiana State University
(LSU).  She will inspire us to help students be responsible for their learning.

The concurrent sessions will extend the keynote by demonstrating resources that we have at SHSU to give
aid to instructors, using available technology, cognitive skills, and shared successful experiences.
This year we will also have a session for adjunct faculty and one for teaching assistants.  All-in-all,
the conference  promises to bring us closer to our heart’s desire:
to motivate students to develop the life skills needed to be productive citizens.

Join us after the conference for a reception and enjoy plenty refreshements including
hors d'oeuvres, a beer and wine bar, and - everyone's favorite - shrimp!
