Activation is required by all cardholders. 

Activation of the ID card verifies with Sam Houston State University that you have received your card, allows you to establish your payroll and refund disbursement preferences, and allows you to open the optional OneAccount if you would like.

NOTE:  Activation does not require you to select the checking account, but you are required to select a disbursement preference so that the university can process any current or future refunds.

If your card is not activated, access will be denied to housing, meal plans and declining dollars, HKC, library and other university facilities and events.  In addition, you will delay receipt of financial aid disbursements, refunds, and student payroll.

Activation is Simple

One you receive your BearKat OneCard, the activation process takes place online at https://www.bearkatone.higheroneaccount.com.

Once at the website, click the secure link at the bottom right hand corner of the webpage, and enter your card number. The website will then walk you through the activation process.

The online activation process is where you can set your preferences for receiving all financial disbursements from SHSU.

You have the option of selecting a disbursement preference for payroll and refunds, including financial aid disbursements.
