Refund Process


To receive financial aid from Sam Houston,

you must complete these steps.

1.) Complete FAFSA online at www.fafsa.ed.gov. You

will need a PIN to electronically sign the application.

Parental information may also be required.

2.) Activate your Bearkat OneCard and select a refund

preference at www.BearkatOne.com .

3.) Check online financial aid application & award

status through SamWeb at ww2.shsu.edu . Use

your username and password combination.

4.) Once all required items have been received and

reviewed for completeness, an award notification

email will be sent to your student account. Reviewing

can take up to 6 weeks.

5.) Students receiving award notifications by August 1 st

can expect funds to be available for Fall payment of

charges. Students receiving award notifications by

December 1 st can expect funds to be available for

Spring payment of charges.

6.) Accept or decline offered aid online at SamWeb

at ww2.shsu.edu .

7.) Complete and submit the Authorization Form

to the Financial Aid Office.

8.) You must apply your financial aid to your student

account beginning 3 days prior to the beginning of

each semester.
