Instructions to Authors for INQUIRY: Critical Thinking Across the Disciplines
INQUIRY: Critical Thinking Across the Disciplines is sponsored by the College of Education, the College of Arts and Sciences, the College of Criminal Justice, the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, and the College of Business Administration of Sam Houston State University. It is a forum for the discussion of issues related to the theory, practice, and pedagogy of critical thinking across the disciplines, from precollege to university settings.
INQUIRY: Critical Thinking Across the Disciplines invites submission of articles, responses, reviews of the literature, notices, letters, and book reviews for consideration for publication. The goal is to encourage an exchange of ideas about effective pedagogy in critical thinking instruction, about methods of assessing critical thinking skills and dispositions, about systematic errors in our thinking, about enhancing the quality of information on which we base decisions and inferences, about common fallacies in argumentation, and about all other topics that are relevant to critical thinking across the disciplines.
Given the diverse nature of the field and of our readership, we ask that authors present early in the manuscript the manner in which “critical thinking” is to be understood. Each submission should have on a separate page the author’s name and complete contact information, including disciplinary specialty and institutional affiliation. Each manuscript should be submitted in Microsoft Word or as a pdf file as an email attachment. Send submissions to the Managing Editor, Frank Fair, of the Department of Psychology and Philosophy at Sam Houston State University. The email address is critical email@example.com
Authors must follow the 6th edition of the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association. Manuscripts that fail to conform to APA style will not be considered for review. By submitting a manuscript to INQUIRY an author is affirming that the manuscript has not been published and is not under consideration for publication elsewhere. Authors are responsible for obtaining and providing written permission from copyright owners for reprinting previously published illustrations, tables, or lengthy quotes of 500 words or more. Authors are responsible for the accuracy of the material in their manuscripts. Use of footnotes and endnotes should be limited as much as possible.
All manuscripts must be accompanied by an abstract of 100-150 words on a separate page or the manuscript will not be accepted for review. Include no more than three key words below the abstract. All manuscript pages, including reference lists and tables, must be double-spaced. All figures must be camera-ready.
