Program Description
The School Counseling Certification is designed for students who have already earned a master’s degree in education or a related field and are seeking certification only as a school counselor.
Students must have a master's degree, a valid teaching certificate, and two years of teaching experience before they can sit for the certification exam.
This certification is also offered in coordination with the Master of Education in Counseling.
Admission
Applicants seeking admission to the graduate certificate in academic advising must submit the following directly to the Office of Graduate Studies:
- A Graduate Studies Application with the application fee
- Official transcript from the baccalaureate degree granting institution and the master's degree granting institution
- Three reference evaluation forms
- Essay
A face-to-face interview is also required.
Certificate Requirements
The certificate requires completion of twenty-four hours of graduate credit.
