Cesar and a classmate sitting on a hill in front of a Gothic style building in EuropeWhile at SHSU, Jimenez worked as a graphic artist for Sam Houston Athletics, as a marketing and events coordinator assistant at Career Services , and as assistant to the Associate Director of Research and Sponsored Programs. He also redesigned the layout, style and logo of The Houstonian student newspaper and served as Creative Director for the Mass Communication Department’s 2013 Fall Newsletter “MCOM@SHSU”.

Jimenez traveled with GCJD to Germany in the summer of 2015 to assist with a training on nonprofit journalism and wrote a reflection about his unique experience.

As for his time working with GCJD, Jimenez says; "The difference between this class and all the other classes I took in college is that the challenges are no longer hypothetical, you are dealing with real money, real expectations and real consequences if you don’t complete tasks, not just a failing grade... the class taught me that you never know the opportunities that you could be presented with if you just have the courage to ask. It taught me not to be afraid to give my opinion to someone just because they may be more seasoned in their career than I am. It taught me that if you want to get somewhere in life, you need to stand up and work for what you want, no one is going to give it you.”
