Each individual plays his or her part on the College of Education team, and contributes value towards the main goal which is preparing students for meaningful lives of achievement.

In the College of Education, we work together. Through combined effort, the faculty becomes a coherent integrated whole capable of excellence in quality education, scholarship, and service. The values of the COE are based on the acronym, RESPECT, represented as follows:

Through collaboration within each department, the part-time faculty is empowered to become a member of a highly qualified, personable, and encouraging faculty that make a difference in the lives of our students and those they serve.

ACCOUNTABILITY

The faculty of SHSU are accountable to 

MENTOR

Each new part-time faculty member will be assigned a mentor from the department of hire. The role of the mentor, an experienced faculty member, is to provide a supportive relationship to the mentee by offering guidance and assistance during the first year of teaching. Therefore, the mentee is able to fully assume their role in the University.
