Domestic Violence Awareness

The Crime Victims? Institute, which studies the impact of crime on victims, relatives, and society, and the Crime Victim Services Alliance, a student organization dedicated to victim advocacy, will hold events in October in recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month. The events include: When: Oct. 21, 6 p.m. Where: Lowman Student Center Theatre The CVI and CVSA will host a screening and panel discussion on ?Telling Amy?s Story,? a documentary that chronicles the case of a Pennsylvania woman who was shot to death by her husband after years of abuse. When: Oct. 30, 2 p.m. Where: Hazel B. Kerper Courtroom The new Voices Lecture Series, designed to explore victimization issues and victim services, will debut with a presentation by Barbie Brashear, Executive Director of the Harris County Domestic Violence Coordinating Council.
