We were recently granted the opportunity to attend the annual Principled Business Leadership Institute (PBLI) conference that took place in Austin, Texas. PBLI is an annual convention that takes place over the course of three days, February 14-16. Held in five different cities across the country, the 2014 PBLI offers individuals a weekend focusing on professional skill building at the individual level, while allowing for the opportunity to network with other chapters and business professionals. Attendees participate in a curriculum centered on the values of principled business leadership and the values of Alpha Kappa Psi, “brotherhood, unity, integrity, service, and knowledge.” During the conference, members attended many workshops focusing on such topics as; Risk Management, Membership Retention, Dress for Success, Making the most of the pledge process, etc. These workshops provided valuable information on how to retain membership, professional development, recruitment, and new technology. Members were able to enjoy the educational experience, but also had the opportunity to take tours, enjoy good food, and take advantage of the opportunity of being in one of the most vivacious cities in Texas. “Since the conference, we have begun to implement all of the knowledge that was given to us which has helped enhance our chapter in every way,” commented Ms. Norfleet.
